Executive Producer Laurence P. O'Reilly is the Co-Director of the Discovery Center Project at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. In his position, O'Reilly is currently managing the development of the $35 million architectural project which includes the creation of the large-format IMAX 3D theater as well as other new education and exhibition spaces, and he also serves as executive producer for all large-format films for the new theater.

After joining the National Museum of Natural History in 1984 as Assistant Director for Exhibits, he oversaw the development of major temporary exhibits in the areas of the arts, culture, and natural science. In the mid-1980s, he began working on the development of the Discovery Center Project as a means to enhance the educational outreach of the museum.
